A combination of Wath 3rds & 4ths took on Doncaster Dragons this sat.
The game was hard hitting from the start, with both teams trying to dominate. Donny Dragons utilised their experince and at times attacked the Wath half. Wath started to hit back utilising their much younger players to good effect, with Rob Goodwin crossing the line for the first score of the match. This was followed by a try by James Dyson (Captain) but Donny Dragons were quick to response with a try of their own.
The game continued to move from end to end but following a good kick up field and chase by various Wath players, Sam Hunter scored in the corner. Again Dragons hit back with a converted try. The last score of the half was by James McCarthy who picked up a lose ball and sneaked down the side to place ball over the line. Craig Wood converting 2 of the 4 tries. Half Time: 24 - 12 Wath.
The second half started following a near full team change by Wath. The Dragons started the quicker and their pack started to exert some dominance in the scrums and rolling mauls. The Dragons scoring early in the half but Wath soon hit back with a try by Martyn Bragg. The Dragons following a strong rolling maul which the Wath forwards couldn't deal with scored again. Wath again utilised their young guns and following some strong running by Luke Stead, Wath got a scrum 10 metres from the Dragons line. Wath pack held strong and Luke Stead picking up at 8, had a easy walk in when Dragons flanker appeared to be tripped by a blade of grass.
The Dragons hitting back again following strong mauling play. Wath were to finish their scoring when young Liam Platts, avoiding a tackle ran up the wing to score. Dragons finished the game the stronger and finished the scoring.
