Wath upon Dearne RUFC 1st XV made the journey to Roundhegians on Saturday and would ultimately come away disappointed with a 22-10 loss.
It was the home side who made the first real impact of the match their winger broke outwide and only superb cover defence from Sam Jones and Ben Cairns stopped a certain try. The home side continued to battle away and eventually got their reward working their way over for a try 7-0.
It was now Wath’s turn to dominate proceedings, after a period of pressure the ball was moved quickly to the left wing, Jacob Mangham handed off his opposite number and raced down to the touchline to score 7-5.
The score would remain at the until the break with neither side really having any further chances in the first half.
Roundhegians came out firing in the second half as Wath never really seemed to get into the game, Roundhegians scored two impressive break away tries before added a penalty to extend their lead to 22-5.
Wath would have the final say of the afternoon, with the final play they earned a turn over at the scrum and Jordan Fleming outstripped the defence down the blindside to score 22-10.
All in all a disappointing afternoon for Wath who knew they should and could have done better, motivation going forward to a tough home game next week. All credit to Roundhegians on a deserved win.
