Injury curse strikes Again
As at Ripon three weeks ago an ambulance had to be called for, and halfway into this game the match was played on the adjacent pitch
Roundhegians 25 Wath upon Dearne 25
An away draw against high flying Rounhegians under the circumstances was commendable.
The home team were quickly into their stride with a well worked converted try and a penalty. Waths travelling supporters thought it was going to be a long afternoon spent defending. Just before half time hopes were raise when Andy Barrett scored one of his signatory penalties from way out
With the HT score at 18.. 3 to the home team a typical crash ball try immediately after the brake by Joe Earp Raised Waths hopes and a change of personnel in the shape of Richard Hill made all the difference, and Jack Whitlam’s penalty also eased the situation. Then disaster struck Curtis Brownrigg in throwing himself in front of opposition forwards found himself underneath a whole bevy of Roundhegsian beef. Game stopped, ambulance called for, play resumed 20 minutes later on adjacent pitch. The home team were not too sympathetic and immediately scored a converted try, score 25 to 11 to home side Wath had to dig in and they did in fine style with a converted try by Steve Mason duplicated by captain Mat Burrows. A man of the match award would be difficult to choose but Reece Tingle made his first team debut which could be many in the future. A well earned Draw !
