If the first 20 minutes of this game had simply been a bad dream then the remainder of the game would have been acceptable, however it was not a dream .Within this short space of time Barnsley took advantage of Wath carelessness, dropped passes and failure to find touch were all eagerly pounced upon. All Barnsley did was simple rugby run hard and pass with grace the result was 3 tries 2 conversions and a penalty. The score line was made to look more presentable by three immaculate penalties by Waths stand off Jack Whitlam HT score 22-9 to the home team’
Just after half time Wath did have a purple patch lead by Veteran Simon Butterworth and Dan Lord playing out of position at No 7 but equipping himself with determination and style
Barnsley increased their lead with a solo 80 m dash by their strong running centre Smith. Wath didn’t say die and this resulted in a push over try. Towards the end of the game a couple of yellow cards were dished out to each side probably given by the referee to show his disapproval of both sides taking over the mantle of being the match official
At the end of the game Waths supporters should be advised “Dont look at the rough road, but at the bright rainbow up ahead”
Wath 2nd. team continue to cement their lead of the Yorkshire Merit table with another win Wath 41 Barnsley 12
