Last weekend Wath made the long journey to the coast to take on Scarborough. A considerably depleted side made the trip but cannot be faulted for the heart they showed. Forwards were forced into the backs and as such the superior pace of the Scarborough back line proved the deciding factor all match. Any mistake by Wath was pounced upon by the particularly impressive Scarborough back 3 who surged away to a well deserved lead.
However In the second half Wath upped their game somewhat, Scarborough were unable to enjoy the time on the ball they had in the first half and Wath were rewarded with a well taken try from scrum half Joe Bartlett around the 60 minute mark. From a lineout five metres out the pack set up a maul, Joe made the decision much to everyone's relief to not allow Simon Lines his fourth try of the season. Joe got his hands on the ball and side stepped his way over the line.
Ethan Dyson was injured early on, playing out of position on the wing he received a bad knock to the head, we are happy to report that he is recovering well and as brother James let us know that he does in fact have a brain as confirmed by a CT Scan. Get well soon Ethan!
Needless to say a 35-5 loss was not the result we wanted but both the 1st XV and Dev XV had a blast after the match, the first of many joint bus trips and the bar has been set very high.
The Development XV also made the journey to Scarborough and again put in a superb performance just losing out by the narrowest of margins 20-17. No 8 Sean Hopper led the way with the try scoring and 17 year old Corey Cox impressed on his Moths debut at fly half.
