The game against Roundhegians in the Yorkshire Silver Trophy was abandoned after 25 minutes when the referee was unable to continue due to a leg injury. At that time Wath were leading 7-3 but the game must be replayed as 60 minutes have to be played for the result to stand.
Wath had made a poor start to the game and several errors gifted the away team an easy penalty and a 0-3 head start. Recovering their composure Wath began to dominate the Roundhegians forwards. Increasing pressure resulted in a try by No. 8, Matt Burrows, crashing over from the base of a scrum. Jack Whitlam converted from under the posts and Wath had a 7-3 lead on 15 minutes.
Wath were continuing to dominate and were only 5 metres from their opponents line when the referee, despite medical attention, was forced to retire and end the game. Luckily for the referee this was not Cheltenham and the screens were not required.
The match will be replayed at Wath on November 10th.
