New Coaching Structure for the 2012-2013 season. New Head Coach Ryan Burrows

Wath upon Dearne RUFC are delighted to announce a New Coaching structure for the 2012-2013 campaign. Leeds Carnegie Back Row Ryan Burrows has been appointed as the New Head Coach of Wath upon Dearne RUFC, a move that see’s the club take a huge step forward. Ryan was an assistant coach last year but will be much more heavily involved as the Club enter the pinnacle of the Yorkshire Leagues for the first time in 10 years. Ryans experience in a professional rugby environment will be of huge value and he will be backed up by a somewhat revamped coaching team.

Lee Bird and Craig Sanderson are to be the Wath upon Dearne RUFC Rugby managers. They will work with the facilities development, player development across all teams and be working heavily within the sponsorship committee. Both are former Captains of Wath RUFC 1st XV and long standing players with Level 2 coaching badges. But as it now takes both of them 3 months to recover from a 40 minute appearance they will look to bring through the younger players.

Ian Evans another former 1st XV Captain and Wales Under 21 and Llanelli Scarlets player, a Level 3 coach who has been involved in the coaching at Wath for a number of years. Ian will be a Coach for the upcoming season, predominantly focusing on the 1st and Development XVs working closely with Ryan. He will continue to provide comedy value for the players with his encouragement from the side-lines in his broad Welsh accent.

Adam Broadley is the newly appointed Defence Coach having previously worked with Rotherham Titans he alongside Ryan will pass on his experience of Rugby in a professional environment to all the Wath teams.

Dave Battersby, also a former 1st XV Captain and long standing player will be the Conditioning Coach. Sure to be the most unpopular man during pre-season as he looks to beast the lads into shape for the upcoming season.

Steve Clegg, yet another former 1st XV Captain and long standing player will take on the role of Development XV Player/Coach. Steve will primarily be working with the Development XV and identifying those players with 1st XV potential.

Wath upon Dearne RUFC will also have two 1st XV Player/Coaches for the upcoming season. Lock Richard Hill will use his wealth of experience of rugby in the national leagues to help coach the Wath pack. Whilst Scrum- Half Joe Bartlett will impart his considerable wisdom and experience on the Wath back-line.

After many years’ service Tony Price will be looking to enjoy a little more time at his Villa in Cyprus, however he will remain involved helping to Develop the new coaches as a Level 4 awarded coach.

Steve Corns (you guessed it another former 1st XV Captain) will continue the superb job he has done for a number of years as 1st XV manager as will Development XV manager Grahame Jones (Nasher.)

Wath upon Dearne RUFC are to have 4 teams in RFU Leagues for the upcoming season as they look to add a Fourth XV to the South Yorkshire Merit 2 league. As such we are continuously on the lookout for new players of any age or ability, anyone interested should contact Lee Bird on 07817498394.

The Club is looking forward to what is sure to be a challenging and exciting season.

As such we begin the search for new sponsors for the upcoming season, for further information on all things sponsorship please contact Sally Corns at sponsorwath@hotmail.co.uk.
