Wath enjoyed the early pressure and utilised their young quick backs, turning the Dinnington defence who some intelligent kicking. However, Dinnington defended well and restricted Wath to a penalty, converted by Craig Wood. Dinnington looked dangerous at the rucks and mauls as Wath again struggled in this aspect of their game but Liam Platts broke clear to score a try for Wath. Converted by Craig Wood. Five minutes later Dinnington had a scrum close to the Wath line and following a short pass Dinnington 10 (S.Houghton) crashed over. Conversion added. Dinnington came out of the blocks quickest at the start of the second half and scored through their 6 (R.White) as he broke form the back of a maul, again leaving Wath in disarray at the maul. Conversion missed.
Wath bounced back again with a try of their own scored by Martyn Bragg. Conversion by Craig Wood. Dinnington hit back again with their 6 (R.White) finishing off a Dinnington overlap. Wath’s young backs were a continual threat to Dinnington and Wath following good supporting play scored (Wayne Emson) in the left corner. Conversion missed. Wath again scored through Wayne Emson catching the Dinnington defence on the back foot, conversion by Craig Wood.
Dinnington were to have the last say ruuning a good try but conversion missed.
