A combination of Wath 3rds & 4ths took on Morley 3rds this sat.
The game was somewhat scrappy, as both teams tried to shake out the cobwebs of the close season. Wath appeared to dominate the majority of the play but fell behind to a penalty by Morley due to in-discipline.
Wath continued to pressure Morley but kept conceding ground again to in-discipline around the mauls especially when in the final 22. Wath finally broke the Morley line following strong pressure/strength, with scrum half Martyn Bragg scoring. Conversion by Dan Andrews.
Wath following a fine break and run by Dan Andrews, who having the line in sight collapsed (literally) over to score. Conversion missed. Wath again scored following a 3yd knock-on by Vince Tilson (MISSED by ref..), who played to the whistle and passed to Martyn Bragg to score under the posts. Conversion by Vince Tilson. Half Time Score: 19 - 3 Wath.
The second half started like the first had finished with Wath scoring soon after kick off, with Martin Horton scoring under the posts. Conversion by Dan Andrews. Wath continued to attack the Morley line but a stray pass in the Morley 22 was return by Morley wing to score under Wath posts. Conversion completed. Wath continued their dominance throughout the rest of the half with James Dyson, Dan Andrews and Sam Hunter all scoring for Wath. 1 try being converted by Martin Horton, the other 2 both being missed.
Final Score: 43 - 10 Wath
Would like to thank all those who came to watch and support Wath 3rds/4ths and a special thanks to Morley 3rds who had brought a young team (missing a lot of old heads) and continued to compete throughout the game....
