From the start Wath were the more attack minded and put Stockbridge under pressure. Following some surging runs, Wath had a scrum 5 - 7 metres from the Stockbridge line and from this No. 8 Ian Jessop picked up and crashed over the line with 2 Stockbridge players in attendance to score Waths first try. Wath continued to press and at times poor passing/decision making cost them more try scoring opportunities. Again from a scrum 15 - 20 metres out Wath were again to score. No.8 Ian Jessop picked up and surged towards the Stockbridge line, being stopped by 2 Stockbridge players but with Martin Horton in support was able to pass out of the tackle for Martin to score. The half continued in much the same vein but with both teams having opportunities to score.
Half Time: 14 - 0 Wath
The second half started with Stockbridge in the ascendency and Wath started to become very undisciplined, giving penalties away at very regular intervals. Stockbridge were also getting to the breakdown better than Wath, who looked a shadow of the team from the first half.
Stockbridge pressure started to tell and following a penalty and quick ball + some poor Wath tackling Stockbridge’s 10 crashed over to score. Converted by their 15.
Wath continued to give penalties and metres due to chirping at the referee. The game became scrappy and handbags started to creep into the game.
