This was a hard fought game on a very cold day. Scunthorpe pack dominated the early scrummages, putting Wath on the back foot. Following a period of pressure Scunthorpe were awarded a penalty, which was duely converted.
Wath pack found their form and started to hold their own allowing Scrum Half Martyn Bragg more time and cleaner ball to start punishing gaps in the Scunthorpe defence. One such gap whould lead to Waths first try, with No.8 Ian Jessop scoring following an easy inside ball by Martyn Bragg. Conversion missed by Dan Andrews. Wath second try was a near carbon copy of their first, again Ian Jessop scoring from a Martyn Bragg pass and Dan Andrews missing the conversion.
Scunthorpe were soon too hit back scoring a converted try. Wath again dominated the open play and following another Martyn Bragg break Callum McNally was on hand to crash over the Scunthorpe line. Converted by Dan Andrews. Wath were to finish the scoring with a try from James McCarthy who again scored following a pass from Martyn Bragg, conversion missed by Dan Andrews.
Half Time: 22 - 10 Wath
The second half continued with Wath attacking but following a loose pass in the Scunthorpe half, the Scunthorpe centre latched onto the ball and ran all the way to score under Wath posts. Conversion missed.
Wath soon hit back with Rob Goodwin scoring following some strong running by Dan Andrews and quick ball from the base of the preceeding maul. Conversion missed by Rob Goodwin.
Wath were to finish the scoring with James Dyson (Captain) going over, Conversion missed by Dan Andrews.
