From the kick, Wath were the more determined and attacked Oaks from the off. Wath were only let down by poor passing and the tendency to rushed their plays.
Oaks were strong in their early tackling but pressure was starting to tell. Wath's wing Don Theaker, who won a foot race to a ball kicked through, scored under the posts. Conversion by Tom Swift. Wath continued to spend the majority of the half in the Oaks half and following a quick play scrum half Martyn Bragg broke through some poor tackling by Oaks to score under the posts. Oaks were finding it difficult to stop Waths back row Tom Swift and Ian Jessop bulldozing runs leading to the next score. No.8 Ian Jessop picking up off the back of a scrum, surged forward with Tom swift in support and following some quick ball James McCarthy had a clear run under the posts to score Waths 3rd try. Again converted by Tom Swift.
Oaks had found it hard to get out of their half and again conceded a try to a ball kick through, which again was pounced upon by wing Don Theaker. Conversion missed by Tom Swift.

The second half continued where the first had finished with Wath camped in the Oaks half. Martyn Bragg was again on the score sheet due to some individual strong physical play. Conversion by Dan Andrews. Wath at times appeared to be encamped on the Oaks line and following a quick penalty Ian Jessop was lucky to score. (Ref had missed the fact he hadn't tapped the ball prior to crashing over the line). Conversion missed by Martyn Bragg.
The game continued with Wath attacking and Oaks defending. Wath were again to score when Tom Swift broke from a scrum (20yards out) and waltz all the way to the line without being touched by an Oaks player. Conversion by Tom Swift.
Wath were to have the final say in the match when from a scrum Wath pack pushed Oaks over the line for Martyn Bragg to dot the ball down for his HAT Trick. Conversion missed by Tom Swift.
