Wath played Dinnington 3rds at Dinnington and started the brighter. Wath were camped in the Dinnington half for the first 14 minutes but couldn't make the pressure pay with poor decision making at vital times. On one good bit of quick play Wath shipped the ball out to their backs and Wath looked like scoring but for a great defensive tackle, which would lead to Wath losing a player.
Like I said a great tackle was made but the Dinnington supporting player dived in 2 footed which rightly incensed the Wath player but unfortunately he retaliated and was rightly shown a RED card (15 minutes) for violent conduct. Wath though weren't happy with the Dinnington player not at least getting a yellow card for dangerous play.
Wath let this get to them and Dinnington took advantage and ran in 2 quick tries, 1 converted. Wath started again to hold their own and the game was at a stalemate until Wath again managed to help Dinnington.
With 13 minutes of the first half left Wath made a player change but didn't notice that 2 players had come off and only 1 went onto the field, leaving Wath playing with only 13 men. With this Dinnington were again to capitalize and score 2 more tries, both converted.
Half Time: 26 - 0 Dinnington
Playing with the elements in the second half, Wath looked to get back into the game with some aggressive play. Wath were beginning to get frustrated, especially at the breakdowns has Dinnington continually had hands in with the referee totally missing these infringements.
Wath weren’t out of the game but again should have done better with what looked like two clear-cut try-scoring opportunities. However, on both occasions Wath backline chose to kick the ball when keeping it in hand would have been the better option.
Dinnington were quite content to concentrate on their defensive play and played to keep a clean sheet but they failed with Wath scoring with the last play of the game, when a kick through bounce awkwardly and Wath centre Charlie Dowell reacting the quickest to touch down. Conversion missed.
Final Score: 26 – 5 Dinnington
